The methods we use to make our cheeses have hardly changed from those used by traditional cheesemakers for hundreds of years. Fresh pasteurised milk is poured carefully into the cheese vat. The milk is gently warmed, stirred and turned into “curds and whey”. The set curd is placed in the cheese moulds and left to drain. After salting the cheeses are ripened for up to five weeks, during which time a distinctive soft white coat forms over the whole cheese covering and protecting the rich creamy interior.

We supply drinks that we think taste lovely. We make some of the drinks ourselves, as much as possible using fresh local ingredients - mainly fragrant English herbs and flowers. We also source drinks by local producers. When we do this we only buy small amounts. This ensures they are always fresh and allows us to minimise the packaging as our products are not designed to sit on a shelf in a shop or supermarket. We encourage local artistic talent by commissioning upcoming illustrators, designers and writers to submit packaging designs. We always try to make sure every bit of packaging can either be re-used, recycled or composted.

Frank Handmade Candles are made partly from used or unwanted candles. The wax is melted down or simply chopped into small pieces – hence how the candles look: small pieces in a matrix of surrounding wax. The nature of this process means that all the candles are unique and may even have the aroma from the original candles. Specific oils are sometimes added to give specific aromas….but unless labeled as such it’s pot luck whether they are scented or not! Most of the candles use paraffin wax, because that’s what most candles are made from. Some candles use a matrix of vegetable wax and these will give a longer burn time.
